Robben Island, Cape Town, is a famous and beautiful location, situated in South Africa. Maybe you are able to remember about it; in this case, you might also remember that it hosted the political freedom fighter, President Nelson Mandela. Once an area of political convicted prisoners, now, it is a peaceful place, perfect for tourist activities. It provides stunning views while crossing its wild bay, having as background the haughty Table Mountain. In case, and this could really happens, you get sick due to the ferry balance, there you can find plenty of space on the ferry's open deck and you can "enjoy" some fresh air. Only that you are not really going to enjoy it, as, sometimes, in that area are some very strong winds, ready to blow you off. There are times when the winds are that strong that the ferries are kept to the shore and the tour trips are all canceled. Additionally, on the ferries, you are able to buy sandwiches, drinks or snacks.

Any standard tour to the Robben Island includes a return ferry trip to the Cape Town, crossing, for the second time, the Table Bay. While on the island, you can pay a visit to the Maximum Security Prison and there, you can interact with a guide, being an ex-political prisoner. Then, you are going to be taken by a bus into a ride, showing you the rest of the island, while you obtain precious information from the tour guide. More, you can visit important attractions, located at Murray's Bay, as the Museum Shop, kramat, and Muslim Shrine. In the summer period, the tours are very crowded.

As well, on the highest top of the island, you can visit the local lighthouse. This, as any other lighthouse, is lighted at night to inform the ships about the rocks surrounding the island. It is about eighteen meters high, so its light can be seen from twenty-five kilometers on the ocean.
