Nothing beats a ski vacation in the French Alps. The lovely scenery, the fresh crisp air, the excitement and the lively romantic atmosphere all combine to create an unforgettable experience. The range of skiing opportunities in the French Alps is unmatched anywhere in Europe. From the excitement of skiing and being over 15,700 feet above sea level to the beauty, peace and serenity of sitting in front of a roaring fire in your ski chalet while the snow floats down outside. Skiing in the French Alps just cannot be matched. What makes it even more amazing is the fabulous ski resorts the French Alps has to offer.

If you are planning a ski trip to the French Alps and taking the children along, Les Gets in Les Portes de Soliel is an excellent choice. This resort not only offers fantastic views and great skiing, there are ski runs set aside solely for children. This can add to their fun and safety. If your party contains snowboard crazed teens on the other hand, the resort Avoriaz may have exactly what you need. Avoriaz is known as the capital of snowboarding because of the great number and variety of snowboard runs it offers.

For many people skiing in the French Alps can only mean one thing; a visit to Chamonix in the Savoy Alps. Nestled at the foot of Mont Blanc, Chamonix is considered one of the original ski resorts in the French Alps. Although it is very expensive people from all over Europe adore this resort making it one of the most popular places to vacation. On the other hand the Val d'isere, Europe's most expensive ski resort, offers high mountain skiing and hosts a major European ski championship. It also features skiing almost all year long.

Isola 2000 is another popular ski resort. Located in the southern French Alps just an hour and a half from the Rivera by car, Isola 2000 benefits from the winter winds off the Mediterranean Sea. This helps give it a combination of lots of snow, freezing weather and brilliant sunshine.

Meribel is one of the most popular ski resort areas in the world. It is a beautiful Alpine village. The resort has lodgings for people with any type of budget. There are romantic Meribel chalets, high-priced luxury hotels and hostels. Shoppers and families also love this little ski resort in the French Alps for their bi-weekly market, access to designer brands, beautiful ski accessories and a wide range of unique dining choices in every price range. It is also a great place to party. As the sun dips behind the snow-capped mountains live bands fill the town with the sounds of merriment and joy.
