Banff National Park, Rocky Mountains - Where a Happy Vacation Know No SeasonBY: Maya Ballesteros | Category: Canada | Submitted: 2010-06-21 07:45:18
Banff National Park is located in Canada, in the Rocky Mountains, being the oldest national park within the whole area. It features a rocky terrain with many ice fields, glaciers, alpine landscapes and coniferous forests. This national park plays an important role in different wild species and natural habitat conservation. If you wish to visit a wonderful Canadian national park, the best one ever, which I strongly recommend, is Banff National Park. It displays great scenery with emerald waters, fields filled with colorful flowers, towering peaks, sweeping vistas and glistening glaciers. In order to see all these wonders you can visit, one by one, Lake Louise, Sunshine Meadows and Ice Fields Parkway. You can get accommodation in the town or in the wild scenery, where live some wild creatures as grizzly bears, wolves and caribou. This park offers you the chance to look at its surroundings, prior any visit, by using a live web cam. Talking about accommodation, you have plenty possibilities to choose from, as hotels, lodges, resorts, vacation homes, camping and different western types. Whatever you choose, all are just great. The only issue you should consider, is to book in advance, as you can obtain some advantageous packages as ski and breakfast included. There are also many dream resorts, which you can rely on, as Nipika, Johnston Canyon, the Rocky Mountain and Best Western Jasper Inn. Banff National Park offers a vast range of activities as backpacking, biking, bird watching, canoeing, cave tours, fishing, mountain climbing, scuba diving, skiing and many more. Below, I offer a small tourist guide of important locations that you should visit: Banff Gondola offers you a gondola ride, so you can visit the Peak of Sulphur Mountain. Considering this option, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Banff National Park, where you can admire Lake Minnewanka, Bow Valley and Town of Banff. The Castle, which actually is the first regional hotel, was built in 1888. It presents the baronial style and still attracts many tourists, being a very important piece of the historical area of the Town of Banff. Canada Place is a part of the family's attractions. This offers modern techniques to help tourists to discover this wonderful part of the world. Sunshine Meadows is an alpine place where you can find, during summer time, wonderful sceneries with colorful flowers, at an altitude of 2220 meters. The Hoodoos are some pillars having several meters, made of rocks, gravel or silt. They were sculpted by time, water and wind and, on these days, they are still guarding the entrance in the Tunnel Mountain. Vermillion Lakes is a perfect area for walking activities and family picnics. From here, you can admire wonderful sceneries of Sulphur Mountain and Mount Rundle. Lake Minnewanka is the biggest lake of Banff National Park. On its bottom, the divers can admire the ruins of a town, once named Minnewanka Landing. Norquay Look-Out offers you support in viewing the Rockies and Banff that can be truly breathtaking. From that place, you can see the valley cut by Spray River, between Sulphur Mountain and Mount Rundle. Lake Louise, with its emerald water, defines a new great experience. It has very clear but very cold waters, even during summer time. Lake Louise Mountain Resort provides you a lifting to another world, at an altitude of 2088 meters, in a ride of 14 minutes. During this special ride, you can admire many natural wonders. Another thing you should be aware of, is that, there is a big difference between summer sightseeing and winter sightseeing tours. The summer one includes all those splendid natural wonders as emerald lakes, roaring waterfalls and alpine meadows on a background provided by beautiful snowcapped peaks and blue skies. As well, you can also enjoy a tour with their SunDog, on which you can admire nature and wildlife. On the other side, the winter sightseeing programs offers you stunning frozen towers that once were waterfalls, and majestic mountains views that now are covered by shiny layers of white snow. You can enjoy ice walks while learning, from park's professional guides, about Banff National Park, Rocky Mountains history.
