I guess that, as many other people, you also know just few things about Argentina and its wonderful tourist destinations. Some of the most amazing places, for you to visit, are its National Parks. The best one, well known, is Chaco National Park, which is located in Chaco Province, situated at the northwest of the Argentinean Capital, Resistencia. This amazing park covers a huge surface of 15.000 hectares and houses plants and animals, some of them having unique origins.

Even if you do not feel attracted by this location at first sight, I can assure you that there are some great things for you to do over there, and, by reading this, your opinion is about to change. First, there are some places to visit, as campgrounds, a visitor center, and many different locations as Una Vida, Hungo Pavi and Chetro Ketl.

The first point, Gallo Campground is located near Visitor Center and is opened all year-around. It offers, for all visitors, a rugged camping environment, being surrounded by desert landscape, cliff dwelling and petroglyphs. It also has some rules to be followed, but all of them are specially made for your own protection.

The next location to visit is the Visitor Center, opened every day. They have an information desk, helping you to find the best activities. As well, they detained a museum, featuring aspects of local cultural history. At this center, you can find many books, postcards, videos, tee shirts, posters and more, things that you can purchase as souvenirs. In addition, you can always visit many locations, as the ones mentioned above, where you can obtain precious information regarding Argentineans life, their history, architecture, culture, sceneries, landscape, nature conservation, native vegetation and many more.

Besides all these places to visit, you can also enjoy many other activities. Therefore, there are outdoor activities as hiking trails and biking. Hiking trails divide in Wijiji trail, Penasco Blanco Trail, South Mesa Trail and Pueblo Alto Trail, and all of them offer great experiences, including sweeping canyon vistas, mesa landscape and a relaxing solitude. They also provide you with breathtaking views of all those local wonders as dangerous-serpentine roads and impressive old Chaco houses, helping you to better understand the scope of Chaco National Park.

On the other hand, biking includes Casa Chiquita, Kin Klizhin and Wijiji, and it is a great way to visit and experience most of the Chaco sites. As well, you can check out the huge canyon that presents to any tourist its solitude, wildlife and amazing, quite environment. There are many biking options to consider, but, the best one to begin with, is The Canyon Loop Drive, opened all day long, featuring a nearly level road.

As well, another thing that you are able to do is to opt for guided tours. These tours are offered on daily basis, starting from April and ending in October. The tours also provide night activities in their Night Sky programs. You can always find updated information about different guided tours, either at the Visitor Center, or at any of the Campgrounds.

I mentioned above the Night Sky programs; this initiative offers astronomy events gathered in interpretive programs. Usually public just loves these programs, as they can learn many interesting facts about Argentinean ancestor's practices and, as well, about many modern ideas and researches related to astronomy. These educative programs are developed in a great environment, offered by dark, clear skies, away from any urban annoying lights. As well, the park also features a great observatory, which offers a new dimension for many programs, such as above presented Night Sky.

In addition to all these, Chaco National Park, offers an on-going activity by proposing to you to become one of the volunteer, in supporting the park programs. There are many available positions for anyone interested in volunteering. You can start as a host, providing information and tours, or assist the protection of this natural wonder. As well, in case that you have solid knowledge in the astronomy field, you can offer your services, by providing valuable information about this wonderful Argentinean region.
